About Pastor

Rodney Odom

Pastor Rodney Gene Odom was born in Fort Worth, Texas. When Pastor Odom was 3 years old his family relocated to Redwood City, California. Pastor Odom is the youngest of five siblings. All five children were raised to serve, praise, love, and trust the Lord by their mother, Mother Betty Ward.

In the early 1960’s, Pastor Odom and his family were members of the Little Flock Church of God in Christ in Redwood City, California under the leadership of Dr. E. J. O’Neal. At the age of 14, Pastor Odom accepted Christ as his personal Savior and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. At the age of 18, he answered the Lord’s call into the preaching ministry.

Pastor Rodney Odom graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, California. Upon graduation, he attended Foothill College in Los Altos, California where he majored in Accounting. Currently, Pastor Odom is attending the Northern California Bible College in San Jose, California to obtain his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies.

In 1980, Pastor Odom began attending the Friendship Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Superintendent Kelly Smith. Under Superintendent Smith’s fine leadership, Pastor Odom received his minister’s license in 1982.

In 1985 he was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ by the late Bishop B. R. Stewart, who was then the Prelate of Northern California First Jurisdiction. As a result of Pastor Odom’s dedication at Friendship COGIC, he was asked to serve alongside Superintendent Kelly Smith as his personal adjutant and the Assistant Pastor of Friendship COGIC. He faithfully served  in this assignment for more than 34 years. Without a doubt Pastor Odom attributes his ministerial success to the tutelage and leadership of Superintendent Smith.

Pastor Rodney Odom has served as a youth pastor, a youth Sunday school teach and president of the Men’s Department for both his local church and the San Jose District. In 1999, the late Bishop Robert Richard Carr appointed Pastor Odom as the Chief Adjutant.  In December of 2013, he was appointed Pastor of the Friendship Church of God in Christ in San Jose, California, formerly pastored by the late founder Superintendent Kelly Smith.

Currently, he serves as the Chief Adjutant to Bishop Jonathan Logan, Prelate of the Greater Northern California Second Jurisdiction. Pastor Odom also serves as a National Adjutant.

In 1985, Pastor Odom married his high school sweetheart, the lovely Jacqueline Odom. The couple have been married for 31 years and the Lord has blessed their union with three beautiful children; Ashleigh, Brandon, and Kaylynn.
